Yuru is committed to improving access to mental health services by bringing together licensed therapists and their clients using a live video platform. Our History

Yuru began development in 2014 when management identified a lack of access and flexibility within the world of mental health. Currently, there are approximately 4,000 Mental Health Professional Shortage Areas (HPSAs) containing nearly 91 million people across the United States. In order to fill this need, management wanted to offer a way for clients to connect with their therapist away from the traditional office setting. Management focused on creating a user friendly experience that provides reliable connectivity to ease communication between therapist and client. Testing with live appointments started in early 2016, during which valuable feedback from users helped shape development. Yuru is continuously evolving to offer the best solutions to meet our users' needs.

Our Team

Thomas P. Bell

Chief Administrative Officer

With more than 25 years of executive management and leadership experience in the healthcare industry, Mr. Bell brings a broad range of senior management skills to his position as Chief Administrative Officer of Yuru. In this role, Mr. Bell was able to lead the development of Yuru's successful telepsychology marketplace.

Leah Carter

Vice President

Ms. Carter has over 20 years of clinical, operational, and executive management experience in healthcare. This experience was integral during Yuru's developmental phase by providing important insight based on her years of working directly with healthcare providers. As Vice President, Ms. Carter is directly involved with systems development, operational implementation, quality management, and recruitment.

Karen Luo

Project Manager

As Project Manager, Ms. Luo plays an active role in the process of strategic development and operational management for Yuru. Ms. Luo holds a Bachelor's Degree in Business Management from University of California, Irvine.

Jamie Swan

Business Development Coordinator

During Yuru's early stages, Ms. Swan worked as a liaison between top management and website developers to implement important business strategies and functional requirements to meet users' needs. Today, Ms. Swan is involved in user recruitment and continues to work closely with our developers to integrate user feedback in order to improve overall experience.
