Yuru works by connecting therapist and client for therapy sessions using a live video platform. Once an appointment has been created by the therapist and accepted by the client, the video can be initiated by the therapist at the scheduled time. During the appointment, both users are able to see and hear each other in real time. After the appointment ends, the therapist is able to finalize payment for the appointment using the payment function in his/her account.

Yes, Yuru is completely safe. Our site is 100% HIPAA-compliant and we use the maximum SSL encryption allowable by law. This means that your personal information will never be shared with outside third parties and your video sessions will never be recorded. Additionally, the program itself is secured with heightened encryption protection in order to keep your information safe from others.

If you are looking to find a therapist, please use the inquiry form on the therapist’s profile page to make initial contact. The therapist will reach out to you to discuss your needs and determine if they are the right match for you.

Yuru has made it easy and convenient to make payments for counseling services. You have the choice to pay using an existing PayPal account or with a debit/credit card of your choice. During the confirmation process, the program will prompt you to log into your PayPal account in order to authorize payment for the appointment. If you do not have a PayPal account, you are able to use a debit or credit card as a guest. Yuru accepts the following cards: Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover. Remember, you will not be charged until after the counseling session has ended and your therapist has finalized the payment.

In order to cancel an appointment, please proceed to the upcoming appointment list on your dashboard page. Next to each appointment there is an editing tool that will give you the option to cancel the appointment. Please note, if you choose to cancel an appointment after the therapist’s allotted cancellation period, you may incur a cancellation fee depending on the therapist’s business policies. These policies are located on the therapist’s individual profile page.

Nothing, Yuru is completely free for clients. You will only be charged the fee set by your therapist.

For Therapists

If you are interested in joining the Yuru network as a licensed professional, please start the registration process here. In order to ensure the highest quality professionals are working with Yuru users, you will need to submit several documents (i.e. professional license) verifying you are licensed to see clients. This process should take only 2-3 business days, after which you will be able to login into your account and start sessions, assuming approval.

In order to get paid after a session has occurred, please proceed to the payments tab located at the top of your dashboard. Here you will be able to finalize the payment. You should see the payment in your PayPal account within 24-48 hours.

Good question. Yuru has flexible subscription plans that work for any professional. Our individual plans start at $50/month, or receive 10% off for $540/year if paid in full. If you are part of a group, our business plan may be right for you. Starting at $85/month for two providers and adding $25/month for each additional provider, our business plan can be scaled for any business need.

Yuru can be an excellent tool if you are looking to grow your business. Whether you are looking to expand your services to include tele-counseling for your current clients or want to expand your client base, Yuru can work as a means to market your services to the public.

In order to create an appointment, proceed to the calendar tab located on your provider home page. From here, choose the day of your appointment, then the specific time period. When choosing the time, you will be prompted to give the following information:

  • Client Name
  • Length of Appointment
  • Provider Fee (can vary depending on client)
  • Reminder email (optional)
Once you submit the appointment, the assigned client will confirm and authorize payment for the appointment on his/her end.

The privacy of Yuru users is one of our top priorities. Therefore, Yuru has implemented several protective measures to keep your clients’ information safe. First, Yuru.com and its information are backed up on servers that are encrypted to ensure security. Yuru also uses password protected logins as well as locked access to server rooms to prevent unauthorized access to client information.

The role Yuru plays in your business can vary, depending on your goals. At its core, Yuru works to connect you to your client via real-time video. From there, how you implement Yuru in your business is up to you. You can use it as an extension of your in-person session to offer more services to your existing clients. You can also use Yuru as a vehicle to expand your client base because with Yuru you are able to see any client, anywhere (assuming you are licensed in the appropriate state). Or if you are looking for more flexibility in your work-life balance, Yuru can be a way to free up time for other important activities in your life.

On your profile page, you will have the opportunity to add your existing business policies to the "business policies" section. This section can be edited at any time. Your clients and any potential clients will be able to view these policies when they visit your profile (assuming you have made your profile open to the public).

You will know your client is ready to receive your call when it says your client is online on the appointment screen. This is located about the viewing window. At this point, there should be a button to call the specific client.

If a client chooses to cancel or not show up for an appointment you are able to apply a cancellation fee in one of two ways. First, the client will be prompted to pay a cancellation fee by Yuru if they cancel the appointment after the allotted time indicated in your business policies. The amount of the cancellation fee is determined by your indicated settings. However, if the client chooses to not pay at that time, or if the client is a no-show, it will be your responsibility to reach out the client and collect payment.

No, Yuru uses an internet platform, so there is no need to download any extra programs onto your computer.

If the video is not connecting, there are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot the problem. First, make sure you have a stable internet connection. If possible, a connection using an Ethernet cord is most reliable. These can be purchased at any local electronics store. Next, please make sure your computer does not have its firewall set to block applications from accessing your camera and microphone as these are needed to establish connection. A third option is to restart Google Chrome before trying to call the client.

If a call is disconnected during a session, the program should refresh automatically. You will then be able to establish the connection as you would normally.

Before your session, you should make sure your device meets the system requirements listed above. This will make sure your device can support the Yuru platform. You will also want to perform an internet speed test to make sure it meets bandwidth requirements. In order to do so, you can visit www.speedtest.net for a quick test. The speed needs to be higher than 560 kbps. Ideally, Yuru works best with speeds greater than 3 gbps. We would additionally recommend using earphones in order to better control the volume and decrease the chance of feedback.

Yuru strongly recommends using an Ethernet cord to create a direct connection to the internet. This will provide a more reliable connection and should decrease instances of disconnection.

Yuru has outlined the internet speed requirements to establish connection in the troubleshooting section. However, this requirement is the bare minimum and the quality of picture and sound will increase with internet speed. Yuru recommends having upload and download speeds of at least 3.00 mbps. You can test the speed of your connection at www.speedtest.net.

During the appointment Yuru recommends minimizing background movement, including ceiling fans, etc. The increased sensory input into the camera will decrease the picture quality. It is also recommended allowing the camera to “settle” by minimizing your movements for 20-30 seconds. This will improve the picture.
